It is important that young people have the time to chat to their doctor about their health. An annual health check with your doctor can help! The University of Melbourne conducted a study to support these health checks….
What should I do if I want a health check?
- Think about any health questions or concerns you might have.
- Where do you normally get answers to your health questions? Friends? Social media? Sometimes this information may not be exactly accurate!
- Your GP or nurse can give you medically accurate information and talk to you about health matters important to you.
- The goal is to identify any health issues now that might impact your well-being in the future.
What will happen at the health check?
- If your general practice provides a health check, it may take up to an hour.
- Depending on what you chat about, the GP may order some tests or work with you to figure out the best plan.
Anything else I need to know?
- These health checks were offered as part of a study by the University of Melbourne, which aims improve the health of young people like yourself.
- If your GP or clinic offers you a health check, this may incur a fee
- You can always let your GP or a staff member know if you have any questions or concerns about having a health check
